BREAKING NEWS!: Jeff Strand's Wolf Hunt Available in E-Book Format!

That's right, folks! Jeff Strand's long awaited (at least by me) werewolf novel is finally available at an affordable price! And not just affordable, but cheap - only 99 cents! That's the same price as a song on iTunes! Less than some of them, in fact. And this will bring you many more hours of enjoyment than any one song you might download! So go get it now (maybe I should stop praising it so much until I actually read the darn thing - but I'm sure it'll be great)! If you're interested, you can but it from Amazon here, or you can get it from Smashwords here. I've already bought my copy, and I can't wait to start reading it!

Also, in case you were wondering, the picture above is the cover for the e-book version, but there are two other covers out there that are equally cool - the limited edition from Dark Regions Press and the cover for what would have been the Leisure edition (sob - I still can't get over the sad Leisure tale).

And now, on to our regularly scheduled broadcast...

HORROR HOUND Magazine! It's Great!!!

I know that I am a Johnny-Come-Lately on this, but I have discovered a great horror magazine - HORROR HOUND! I've seen this in the bookstores in the past, but never got around to actually purchasing a title. But a few days ago, I was perusing the magazine section, and my eyes fell upon the latest issue of Horror Hound, and all of my favorite killers were looking back at me from the cover! So I took a gander, and it was filled with great stuff, most notably a long and in depth article centered around the slasher films of the '80s! Like I said, great stuff!!! And it wasn't just the typical Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street stuff (not that those movies aren't great and all, but enough already, I know about them!) - no, this article was an A-Z listing of great slasher films, but they are some that are of the lesser known variety! That means more great movies to add to my "Need to See" list! By the way, I think I'll need to live to 125 (at least!) in order to watch all of the movies that I want to!

Anyway, the magazine is great, and I can't wait until the next issue comes out! If you haven't checked it out yet, and you are a fan of horror stuff, do yourself a favor and get an issue of HORROR HOUND! And to top it all off, it's only $6.99! These days, that's quite a steal!!!

THE 1ST ANNUAL BLOODY AWARDS!!!

Okay folks, here is the big news you've all been waiting for - the official announcement of the 2010 BLOODY AWARDS! That's right, it's the first year of a great new awards program, here to honor all of your favorite horror delights!

What's that you say? Are you asking why would we want another horror award? We already have the Bram Stoker Award - isn't that enough? Well, the answer to that is a resounding "NO"! Not only are there never too many horror awards (or horror anything for that matter), but let's be honest - the Bram Stoker Awards kind of suck. They pretty much pick four okay books (I'm probably being generous here), and Steven King ends up winning. I don't think they've even announced the nominees yet, but I guarantee already that Under The Dome will win. And don't get me wrong, I like Steven King as much as the next guy (well, maybe not quite as much as the next guy, but he's pretty good), but there are other horror writers out there! I know, I know, I'm getting crazy now, but I think it might be a little bit true. And dare I say it, there might even be a better horror writer out there than Mr. King - or at least one book a year might be better than one of his! And one other thing that I just want to say - quiet or subtle horror or whatever the hell you want to call it stinks! I want real horror, with lots of blood and guts, and throw in some titties and torture and all that good stuff! I'm not looking for magnificent fucking literature here, but just some people getting killed, and the more brutal, the better!

So there you have. These are my reasons for why another horror award program is needed. Make that a better horror award program. My promise to you is that any book worthy enough to win a Bloody will be just that - bloody! And there will be no doubt that it is indeed a horror book, all the way!

So we here at Blood Headquarters have come up with the Bloody Awards, which will feature four bloody categories:

1. Best Novel
2. Best Monster Novel
3. Forgotten Horror Classic
4. Hall of Blood Induction

Intrigued? What do some of these categories entail, are you asking yourself? When the hell are these damn Bloody Awards? All these questions and more will be answered in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to this fine website! And if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts, please feel free to let us know - we are all ears!!!

Okay, have fun everybody, and be good to each other!

Book Signing with BRIAN KEENE and J. F. GONZALEZ!

Well, the book signing today was a raging success (well, I guess I don't actually know about all that yet, but I know I had a good time)! Me and Mrs. Bloodman drove out to the Lebanon Valley Mall today to meet Brian Keene and J. F. Gonzalez, and I'm happy to say that both were really nice guys, and even posed for a picture with yours truly (face covered for your protection)!

While there, I picked up a copy of Clickers 2 and Primitive, the first by Gonzalez and Keene, and the latter being Gonzalez's newest book. I look forward to reading them both soon! And make sure to check back here for their forthcoming reviews - I know you all can't wait for that!

Hopefully the Brian Keene website will update us about how much they sold. I'm hoping it really was a great success, as proceeds from the sales went to help the Lebanon Humane Society, so anything that can help the animals is always a great cause!

BRIAN KEENE, J. F. GONZALEZ, and others Book Signing!

Brian Keene, J. F. Gonzalez, and a few other writers are having a book signing at the Lebanon Valley Mall in Pennsylvania this Saturday from 1-4 in the afternoon. And part of the proceeds from this even are going to the Humane Society of Lebanon, so get out there and support this great cause! Actually two great causes - animals and horror stories! Really, what's better than that!

Here's a link for more information:

Even if you don't like any of these writers, get your asses out there and support the animals - they need our help!

ZOMBIE AQUAMAN!

This is apparently going to be the variant cover to Blackest Night #2 (the new mini-series from DC Comics, for those who aren't paying attention to that kind of thing!). I don't usually worry too much about what cover I'm getting when I'm buying comics, but this is one time I might have to make an exception! Aquaman's probably never looked cooler (that being said, I do still want my classic Aquaman back at some point), and all of his friends of the sea around him are pretty damn cool, too!

Creepy is Back!!!

For those of you that haven't seen yet, Creepy is making a comeback! And it's coming out this Wednesday! Dark Horse has been great with re-releasing some classic comics in the horror genre (as well as others) in the past, but now they appear to be stepping it up even more! Brand new stories in the Creepy tradition! Who could ask for anything more?

I have already ordered my copy of issue #1, and you will be sure to see a review here as soon as it arrives at my door! The description indicates that it will contain mostly new material in the Creepy tradition, and one classic reprint from the old Creepy series - sounds great to me! The only negative about this is that it is only scheduled to come out four times a year (although this may be good news for my wallet) - but if sales are good enough, I'm sure this can get bumped up as well. I can't wait!!!
